Where To Go For Fashion Inspiration

unpublished

I don’t know about you, but personally I love fashion. Buying clothes, selling clothes and dressing up can be so fun, but also so stressful. So, so, so stressful. It’s easy to feel overwhelmed when scouring the internet looking for the perfect outfit, for special occasions or even just on a day to day basis.

One way to avoid this horrific, stress-inducing version of shopping is by having some clear cut inspiration, and as always, this article is your perfect guide where to find this inspiration as well as some examples.

  1. TV Shows

Who better to steal style tips from than

your favourite iconic TV show characters? Films and shows are filled with tonnes of amazing characters with incredible style - whatever your ‘vibe’ or ‘aesthetic’ is you can almost 100% find someone’s style to emulate.

If you prefer more of an upscale, classy look then think of shows like Gossip Girl. If you’re looking for 90s vibe outfits, turn on Clueless. Do you want to dress like one of the teens on Euphoria who definitely would not be allowed to go to school dress like that? Turn on the TV (or dodgy illegal streaming site, no judgment here), and if you’re feeling seasonal and festive then I'd suggest watching Gilmore Girls.

1. Celebrities

In all fairness, it’s a whole lot easier for celebrities. They have an apparently unlimited amount of money as well as personal shoppers and stylists to go through the pain for them. But, luckily for us, we have the wonderful opportunity to steal what their stylists try so hard to curate for them.

As well as this, there are multitudes of different types of celebrities to get inspiration from.

  • Influencers are one example.

People seem to have highly mixed feelings surrounding this topic. We love to hate influencers don’t we? Regardless of that, they are useful in one regard: Fashion. Influencers can be the best to get inspiration from, especially as their outfits are much easier to replicate day-to-day than A list celebrities. Here are some of my favourites:

  • Lily Chee : @lilychee

  • Luiza Cordery : @luizacordery

  • Olivia Neill : @olivianeill

  • Amaka Hamelijnck : @amaka.hamelijnck

  • Mia Regan : @mimimoocher

  • Emma Chamberlain : @emmachamberlain

That being said, A-list celebrities can also be great places to find top fashion tips. I’d recommend watching some videos from Vogue's youtube channel

2. Pinterest

I’m going to need you to work with me here people; When i say Pinterest i need you to not think of it in a basic-annoying-karen-starbucks-mother-of-four-way but instead in a lily-rose-depp-aesthetic-lana-del-rey-romanticizing-your-life-way. When used correctly, pinterest is life changing. Perfect for curating outfit boards, stalking other people’s boards and opening your eyes to endless outfits. Amazing. Use it. Now. After you finish reading this.

3. Depop

I know, I know. Depop’s for shopping, right? But, one of my favourite life hacks for finding good wardrobe pieces (and for when I want to be petty) is to stalk people’s likes on Depop. Creepy? Maybe. But I prefer the term masterful.

Think about it - if there’s a person whose style you love and envy more than anything, take a short little trip into their likes and steal something from right under their noses. It works like a charm.

Now that I’ve apparently exhausted all of the various ways to find outfits and fashion inspiration, just go shopping. Go.
