Best Things To Do In London (not generic)

unpublished

Have you ever found yourself hopelessly bored, sitting in front of your computer, desperately searching up ‘fun things to do in London'? Are you always met with the same 10 places to go (which are NOT aimed at local Londoners but the classic tourist)?

Look no further. I have come up with a compilation of things to do in London which may appeal more to you than riding the London Eye.

1. EVERYMAN CINEMA POP UP

https://www.everymancinema.com/

Don’t be fooled, this is not your average cinema. This is Vue on steroids. Firstly, these pop ups are situated outdoors during the summer nights and are completely free of charge. Last summer there was one in Kings Cross on the canal which showed films like Matilda and West Side Story. The one downside is that the pop ups aren’t all year around BUT the Everyman Cinema is. Whilst this may be slightly more pricey, it's definitely worth it. The seats are not those uncomfortable hard ones with a rigid back, but plump two man sofas, so they are perfect to go with friends. There is also food table service offering an array of delights from warm freshly baked cookie dough to mini pizzettes so what more could you ask for?

2. JACK AND BEYOND

This is a cake cafe in Battersea which serves bottomless cake for 90 minutes, at just £20. Following the carnage at the Christmas 'fête' last year, with the multitude of cakes not only ingested but also engraved into the floor, I felt obliged to add this one in. I know nothing sets Godolphin Girls off more than a moist red velvet cake. If you are looking to eat yourself into a sugar coma, there is no better place to go than here.

3. ART FOR FUN

https://www.art4fun.com/

Art 4 Fun is just one example of the many pottery classes there are dotted around London. Once you are there you pick what object you want to paint, then when you’re done you let it sit for a bit and you can pick it up a few weeks later. Pictured above is actually a photo of my own self love bowl which I painted over the summer. To quote every teacher who has ever drawn anything on a board, I am by no means an artist (ik it's surprising looking at that) and I actively disliked the compulsory art classes up to Year 9. HOWEVER, this was still such a fun and calming activity even for those who are not artistically gifted and it’s made so much better by the fact you can take what you make home and eat out of it.

Food just tastes better from your own bowl.

4. THE TOP SECRET COMEDY CLUB

Yup, that is a photo of Amy Schumer performing at The Top Secret Comedy Club and yes, the tickets are £1 most evenings. You are guaranteed a funny time, even if the comedian isn’t funny, because that is funny in itself. It’s in Covent Garden so you can fit in some shopping and dinner beforehand and then sit, back, relax and enjoy a giggle… the perfect day out.

5. UBER BOAT

https://www.thamesclippers.com/

I’m definitely guilty of wasting my money on unnecessary Uber rides when it’s just ‘too cold’ or I’m just ‘too tired’. However, I would say that the Uber Boat is money well spent, with prices as low as £4.60, and something all regular Uber riders should experience. I am by no means encouraging you to make this your daily form of transport to school (not even to get the attention of the St Paul's boys as you pull up and park) BUT as a one off it is *chef’s kiss*.

6. PETS YOGA

For all my animal lovers, this is the one thing from this list you have to do. It is a yoga class with mini live balls of fluff roaming around whilst you do it. SO. CUTE. Not only is there the option of kittens, but also puppies and bunnies. Do be warned, this recommendation is slightly less affordable than the rest but tickets go on sale at £29. Another warning, the location is only sent out a few days before the event, so after you buy the ticket you may find yourself driving to East London from Hammersmith.

Truthfully, this doesn’t bother me as I would fly to the Bermuda Triangle to get to do some lunges in a room full of small animals.

Let it be known that it is also carnage getting tickets as they sell out really quickly but this all is part of the preparation for the animal/feral mindset appropriate for such a class.

Overall- the perfect gift for the animal enthusiast.

7. PUTT IN THE PARK

I have visited this place annually ever since the age of 7 and I don’t plan on stopping. My last visit was actually with a bunch of 7 year olds who started swimming in the mini ponds (which are meant to be an obstacle) so we did end up getting kicked off, but that's beside the point. I love how my competitive side really gets to shine through in this park and you don’t have to be sporty to absolutely annihilate everyone else. To all readers with a Dad that took up golf as a midlife crisis, it’s the perfect place to take them and challenge the ‘skills’ they have acquired. It is £11 a ticket and a major bargain for year 10s and below, you get £2 off!!!!!

8. CAMDEN MARKET

Ok, so maybe this is my one basic suggestion… but basic for a reason, am I right? I just had to include this one for all the people of Godolphin who live in South London and haven’t experienced what the North has to offer. There is amazing vintage shopping for all you Y2K baddies and also delicious grub. Maybe not a place for the faint hearted due to the sheer amount of obnoxious 12 year old roadmen wannabes dressed in bape, aggressively shove through the crowds. But if you can handle them, you can just about handle anything. One leaves Camden Market a stronger soldier. So if you don’t want to visit Camden for its amenities, I suggest visiting it as a means to toughen up.

So there you have it… my unique list of things to do in London. Hopefully this article will spice up your London life, enjoy xx
